Bill 21: 'There are other jobs,' Legault tells aspiring teachers

The premier says those wanting to wear religious symbols can find other careers, and hints at the use of closure to force the bill into law.

QUEBEC — Premier François Legault has warned youth who aspire to teach in Quebec’s public schools that they will have a choice: remove their religious symbols while on the job, or make alternative career decisions.

And as resistance to Bill 21 continued, with a human chain formed around Westmount High School on Wednesday morning, Legault refused to rule out resorting to closure to force Bill 21 into law before the legislature shuts for summer recess June 14.
