Jean-François Lisée hits a brick wall

MONTREAL - We’re pathetic, we English-speaking Quebecers. And after four months of listening to our whimpering, our nanny minister is showing signs of impatience with us.
“You are Quebecers,” Jean-François Lisée snapped in English last week, after announcing a $20,000 subsidy for a tour of the province to promote the bilingual pop song Notre Home, an anglo-angsty plea for acceptance.
“Stop doubting. Stop asking permission to be Quebecers. Stop thinking that you are defined in the eyes of the other.

"Basically, we have to operate in French unless we can prove an absolute necessity in certain categories," said Rotrand.

Quebec Exam is Bad History, Written in Bad English

In his book Who Killed Canadian History?, one of the country's foremost historians, Jack Granatstein, says: "Nationalism in Quebec is not propagated in a haphazard way by individual teachers. It starts at the ministry level and it permeates the textbooks." We can now add official history examinations to that. For over 20 years, Quebec has been producing dubious nationalist history in its compulsory examinations. The most recent exam for History and Citizenship Education (which replaced the old History of Quebec and Canada) avoids issues that are politically uncomfortable for nationalists and is an excellent example of bad history.
